Kate Whalen is a Managing Director and senior trader on the Agency CMBS team at BMO Capital Markets. In this role, she has responsibility for communicating with bank, money manager and hedge fund institutional clients regarding opportunities in the agency multifamily markets. Kate has helped lead BMO to a prominent role in the agency multifamily issuance tables; in 2020, BMO was a top 5 issuer of both FNMA ACES deals and GNMA Project Loan remic deals, printing a combined total of over 5bln in new issuance. She is also actively involved in daily trading with BMO’s partners in origination.
Prior to her current role, Kate was a senior trader on the Agency CMO team, helping with efforts in both new issue structuring and secondary trading. Kate joined KGS Alpha Capital Markets at its inception in 2010 and was part of the transition to BMO Capital Markets in 2018. Kate holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Brown University.
