Mr. Cobb is 3650 Capital’s Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner, and is jointly responsible for loan origination capital markets, financing activities, and oversite of 3650 Loan Servicing, a rated Special Servicer by all 5 NRSO’s. He is also a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. Cobb has 30 years of experience in commercial real estate investment and finance. Mr. Cobb is also the Co-CEO of Grass River Property (GRP), a 3650 Capital affiliate. GRP is a Miami Florida based, +/- 2 million sqft, portfolio of adaptive re-use and transit oriented commercial real estate properties. Assets include, ground up multifamily development on Miami’s Metrorail and experiential retail such as CocoWalk, in partnership with Federal Realty (NYSE: FRT).
From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Cobb acted as Co-Chief Executive Officer in the restructuring, management, and eventual sale of LNR Property LLC (“LNR”). At LNR, Mr. Cobb led a team of more than 600 commercial real estate professionals across ten U.S. and European office locations, built several new debt markets businesses and coordinated processes culminating in the sale of LNR to affiliates of Starwood Capital Group in 2013.
Prior to LNR, Mr. Cobb was a Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Securities coordinating Deutsche Bank’s activities related to the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 and related government programs responding to the global financial crisis of 2008 to 2010. Mr. Cobb led the Deutsche Bank team that was responsible for the management of six Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation sales or advisory assignments, and the sale of the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) warrant positions. During this time, Deutsche Bank was among the most active traders of structured products that ended up in financing from the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF) program. Mr. Cobb also served on The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Bank Board. Prior to this, Mr. Cobb was the Co-Head of the U.S. Commercial Real Estate Business at Deutsche Bank. At Deutsche Bank Mr. Cobb helped build and manage the 1,000 person team that became one of the world’s largest commercial real estate lenders with +$30 billion per year in loan originations.
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. Cobb spent five years in the Commercial Mortgage Group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (“DLJ”), where he had responsibility for specialty finance clients, loan origination and CMBS securitizations. At DLJ, Mr. Cobb had interim oversight of the European securitization platform. During this time, Mr. Cobb executed the first CRE collateralized debt obligation in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to DLJ, Mr. Cobb worked at Citicorp Securities.
Mr. Cobb serves on the Board of Governors of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC), The Presidents Council of the Real Estate Roundtable (RER), on the Advisory Board and past Chair of the Real Estate Masters Program at the University of Miami, on the Board of the Waterside School in Stanford, CT and the Kipp Miami Board.
Mr. Cobb holds a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Southern Methodist University, and an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from New York University.
