PAUL ADORNATO

Paul E. Adornato, CFA, is a veteran REIT analyst with more than 30 years’ experience on Wall Street, most recently at BMO Capital Markets (2005 – 2017) where co-founded the US REIT research franchise including creating its annual Real Estate Conference attracting 450 top institutional investors and REIT senior management. In 2010 Paul ranked second out of 65 analysts in the Real Estate category of The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” analyst survey. He serves as a speaker at industry conferences and is often quoted by major media outlets.
Paul began his real estate research career at Merrill Lynch (1993 – 1996) where he participated in the creation of the modern REIT era, and later at PaineWebber (1996 -1998) where he was part the top-ranked Institutional Investor research team. From 2001 to 2005, he grew two entrepreneurial REIT research efforts from scratch.
Since retiring from Wall St in 2017, he has reconnected with his alma mater, the MIT Center for Real Estate, where he helped develop and launch its first online Certificate course as Head Learning Facilitator for digital education specialist GetSmarter (a division of EdTech leader 2U (TWOU)), and where he mentors current Masters students and coaches MIT’s DesignX Accelerator Lab. In New York he serves as Adjunct Instructor in the Masters programs at NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate and at Fordham University’s Real Estate Institute. Paul serves as an advisor to a PropTech startup and to Future of Cities, a regenerative placemaking development firm.
Paul holds an MS in Real Estate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BA in Statistics and Economics from Dartmouth College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and passed FINRA Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 exams. He recently returned to the classroom as a student in MIT’s Data Science for Real Estate Certificate Program, offered thru its Real Estate Innovation Lab.
Paul is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, NY where he lives in an 1885 Brownstone he restored. He has a passion for architectural history and the built environment. In 2014 he trekked to the summit of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341), Africa’s highest peak.

SCOTT ROBINSON
CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Mr. Robinson is a senior commercial real estate processional with extensive REIT, bulge-bracket, and middle-market experience in capital markets, investment banking, and credit analysis. Mr. Robinson is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Finance at the Schack Institute of Real Estate, where he is also Program Coordinator for the Finance & Investment curriculum and Director of the REIT Center. Additionally, Mr. Robinson is a Managing Director and co-head of real estate investment banking at Oberon Securities. Mr. Robinson’s teaching portfolio currently includes Real Estate Capital Markets, REIT Securities Analysis, and the Applied Project in Finance & Investment. He has previously taught Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Corporate Finance, and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities. His oversight of the REIT Center allows him to introduce graduate students to the dynamic and fast-paced intersection of Wall Street and real estate, through student-generated content and industry events. Mr. Robinson’s prior positions include being a key member of the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Citigroup, a senior analytical role in the Real Estate Finance Group at Standard & Poor’s, as well as positions at Macquarie Capital (sell-side equity research), Advanced Real Estate Services (acquisitions), and BRT Realty Trust (financing). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Monmouth Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: MNR) and Full Stack Modular, and is an advisor to a technology-focused VC fund based in Hangzhou, China.Mr. Robinson received a Bachelor of Science with dual concentrations in Biology and Economics and a minor in Accounting, from the University of California, Riverside, and a Master of Science in Real Estate Finance from New York University. He also FINRA licensed (79, 63, and 7) and a New York State Real Estate Broker. TIMOTHY H SAVAGE
CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Dr. Timothy Savage is a clinical assistant professor of real estate at the Schack Institute of Real Estate, where he is the Program Coordinator of Data Science and the Faculty Director of Hirsh Fellows. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the NAIOP Research Foundation, where he provides industry commentary and demand forecasting for office and industrial properties. Tim is the former Senior Managing Economist and Principal Data Scientist of CBRE Econometric Advisors. He is a data scientist with nearly 20 years of experience at international firms such as Charles River Associates and Navigant Consulting. His general focus is the use of machine learning to evaluate business strategy. He speaks frequently to institutional investors in commercial real estate on macroeconomics, monetary policy, and the potential impacts of big data and technological change. His research has been twice discussed in the Economist, and he has addressed the National League of Cities on uses of big data in policymaking. His commentary has appeared in the Economist, Vox Media and the Wall Street Journal. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
As The Center’s Director, Tim will be the primary point of contact for CREFC. He will be responsible for oversight and administration of The Center, including but not limited to scholarships, joint events, programming, and the certificate programs. Tim will work closely with Dean Sam Chandan, Ph.D., and other Schack faculty, CREFC’s NYU Endowment Committee, and CREFC staff to implement all of these initiatives.
MANISH SRIVASTAVA
PROFESSOR

Manish Srivastava is a Clinical Professor of global real estate finance, investments, and urban development at New York University where he is presently also a member of the faculty council. He is also the former academic chair and real estate finance program chair of New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate. Manish is also a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy. Previously, he was an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in New York.
Manish is also the managing partner of Sidhant Capital Partners an international investment and advisory firm. He has over 25 years of experience in real estate capital markets, corporate finance, investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, real estate private equity and investment management, valuation, financial forensic and fraud investigations, and corporate strategy and development. He has executed over $50 billion worth of transactions across a range of industries and transaction types.
Prior to his career in real estate and finance Manish practiced architecture for several years and was the project architect for the Ambassadors’ Residence at the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi and Industrial Finance Corporation of India Headquarters building in New Delhi, among several other development projects.
Manish is a member of the board of directors of the ‘The Restorative Center’, a non-profit organization focused on restorative justice. Professor Srivastava is a regular speaker on various international forums and has delivered keynote lectures across various academic, institutional, and corporate forums in Asia, Europe, North and South Americas.
Manish graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with dual Master of Science degrees in Real Estate (with a focus on real estate finance and development) and Architecture (with a focus on Architecture and culture). At MIT, he was the recipient of the prestigious Aga Khan Scholarship which is awarded to only five students from around the world for the entire duration of their graduate studies at MIT. He also earned a Bachelor of Architecture (first professional degree) from the College of Architecture at the University of Lucknow in India.
