For CREFC members, an industry-leading certificate program in finance, as well as standalone programming are offered. Scholarships are awarded each year for students in NYU SPS undergraduate and graduate real estate degree programs. This historic partnership facilitates interactions between professionals and students at various industry events including CREFC conferences.
“The Center convenes members of academia and industry in addressing issues of critical importance for the commercial real estate finance sector,” said Lisa Pendergast, CREFC’s Executive Director who goes on to say: “Educating the next generation of commercial real estate finance professionals and providing cutting edge content and research are issues we take very seriously, and we could not think of a better partnership than NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate.
“Giving students access to the research, insights and membership of CREFC is something that augments what students learn in the classroom. This partnership is a way to expose the next generation of professionals in real world issues,” observed Marc Norman, Larry & Klara Silverstein Chair in Real Estate Development and Investment at Schack. “A compelling interface between the real estate finance industry and NYU Schack’s educational programs, such as this partnership, serves to activate learning and continued exploration for professionals, particularly the rapidly evolving global capital markets. This indmustry conduit to our students and learning environments is vital for their relevant and comprehensive preparation for practice and success,” adds Patrice Derrington, NYU Schack Professor and Chair of Strategic Academic Initiatives.
