Politics and Policy: Update on CRE and Cannabis Legalization

Politics and Policy: Update on CRE and Cannabis Legalization
More and more states are decriminalizing or crafting a legal regime for cannabis. Despite successful legalization efforts in Republican and Democratic states alike, federal law still classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, effectively illegal for all purposes. While efforts at relaxing federal law have gain traction (such as the SAFE Banking Act), Congress has not yet addressed the growing mismatch between state and federal policy. This webinar will update attendees on the cannabis policy landscape and how the legal regime impacts CRE. Attendees will hear from cannabis policy experts and advocates who will update the CRE finance industry on the status of federal reform efforts, a focus on state-legal regimes, and an overview of how CRE lenders and borrowers navigate the cannabis industry.
