Certificate Program
The certificate curriculum is designed to provide critical skills and industry insights into the CRE finance markets. Courses will incorporate cutting-edge market data that drive decisions and investments and provide thought leadership on recent developments and long-standing CRE finance principles to students.
This groundbreaking certificate program focuses on providing a knowledge base on a variety of CRE topics, including (but not limited to):
- The interaction of volatility, risk, and asset diversification;
- Key policy issues and their impact on the economic analysis of real-estate decision-making;
- Urban economics and exploring high density population areas and their corresponding infrastructures
- Balancing the potential for positive financial reward with concurrent exposure to risk and uncertainty in both single assets and portfolios of assets;
- Introduction to appropriate data sources and techniques useful in analyzing and forecasting real estate demand and supply in different markets and for different asset classes;
- The principles and instruments of real property and construction law, including contracts, development, ownership, and operations;
- Methods employed in both strategic and tactical value enhancement decision-making for real estate;
- Sources of debt and lending risk and the economic advantages of scale.
To complete this certificate program attendees will participate in a total of
eight (8) courses:
four (4) required core courses (listed below) and four (4) elective courses. Elective courses will be offered on a rotational basis and will be selected based on current market conditions.

Course Format and Information:
- Presented virtually using both live and pre-recorded materials, ideal for the busy CRE professional
- Courses will be seven weeks long and include an assessment that attendees will need to successfully complete in order to receive credit toward the certificate program
- The cost per course can be found on NYU's registration page.
- Each semester a complimentary course on a contemporary CRE finance-related topics is offered to the entire CREFC membership. Those pursuing the certificate can use one of these complimentary classes to serve as an elective within this certificate program.
