CREFC Names Anna H. Glick for 2022 Woman of the Yea

Patrick C. Sargent receives annual Founders Award

The Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC) today at its annual June Conference in New York, announced Anna Glick as the recipient of the third annual Woman of the Year Award. Additionally, Patrick Sargent was named as recipient of the 2022 Founders Award.

Established in 2020, the Woman of the Year Award honors a woman in commercial real estate finance who, through her engagement in CREFC and other organizations, has enhanced and improved the industry. As Senior Counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft, Ms. Glick has demonstrated her leadership and exemplary commitment to the commercial real estate finance market and its participants. She is recognized as an industry leader and has demonstrated high ethical and professional standards.

“I am deeply humbled to have been selected by my peers as Woman of the Year. It is an honor to be included in the club of women who have received this award before me, women who I admire and respect for their contributions to our industry and the goals of this group,” said Ms. Glick. “Thank you to Lisa Pendergast and CREFC for all the work that you do championing women in commercial real estate finance.”

CREFC’s Founders Award is offered to those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the betterment of CREFC and the commercial real estate finance industry. Established in 2006, recipients of this award have engaged in innovative and creative business practices and industry activity that has successfully enhanced the marketplace for secondary and securitized investments in commercial real estate.

Woman of the Year – Anna H. Glick

Anna Glick is an exceptional practitioner in the field of securitization, with over 40 years of experience in this highly sophisticated area of finance. She has worked in the area of multiclass securitization since its inception, and represents issuers, underwriters, institutional investors and servicers active in the primary and secondary capital markets. Anna has diverse experience in the area of structured mortgage finance, having participated in numerous public and private transactions involving the issuance of securities in both debt and equity form. Anna concentrates in the area of commercial mortgage-backed securitizations and has represented the issuer/underwriter in billions of dollars of securities offerings, many of which include novel structures and features. She also focuses on federal securities laws issues particular to these types of securitizations and advises on related securities compliance matters.

 

She has been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in the world of complex commercial mortgage finance. In 2021, Anna received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” as part of Corporate Counsel’s annual Women, Influence & Power in Law awards. She earlier won an IFLR LMG/Euromoney Americas Women in Business Law Award as “Best in Structured Finance (including Securitization & Derivatives)” for her work as an exceptional practitioner in the field of securitization. She has also been recognized in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Who's Who Legal, Chambers USA: Americas Leading Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and the IFLR1000.

Anna is also active in industry trade organizations and has served as Chair of the Policy Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee of the CRE Finance Council.

Patrick (Pat) Sargent is a Partner at Alston & Bird where capital market participants have trusted him for more than 30 years to handle their structured finance, corporate securities, and business transactions.

He focuses on structured finance and capital markets transactions, including extensive experience in commercial real estate finance and securitization, collateralized mortgage obligations, mortgage repo facilities, and structured financings of other diverse asset types such as trade receivables, auto loans, single-family rental loans, and equipment leases. He represents a national credit rating agency in commercial mortgage securitizations and CRE CLO transactions and also represents issuers, loan sellers, underwriters, investors, and servicers in public and private structured finance transactions and other debt and equity transactions.

Pat has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America© for Securitization and Structured Finance Law since 2006 and he was named The Best Lawyers in America© Lawyer of the Year” in 2012 and 2020. Additionally, Pat has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly for more than 10 years.
