John Ellis "Jeb" Bush is an American politician who served as the 43rd Governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007. He is a prominent member of the Bush family: the second son of former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush. Bush left Texas and moved to Florida in the 1980s to work as a real estate developer. As governor, he found himself in the midst of the 2000 election controversy between Al Gore and his brother. He is remembered for his work to improve the state's educational system and ecology.
