Lender Committee
Chairman:
Peter Denton, Head of UK Real Estate Finance, BNP Paribas
Purpose:
The Lender Committee seeks to offer an opportunity for the providers of finance active in the European Commercial Real Estate market to interact and address issues particular to their business. Europe is seeing a fragmentation of lender type; not just balance sheet using banks and capital market issuers but the appearance of a more mature subordinated debt market and growing interest from new entrants such as the insurance sector. The Committee therefore recognises that there are good reasons to focus on Market Standards in the sector, amongst other initiatives.
If you would like to become involved with the Committee please contact Jaymon Jones or on +44 (0)20 7073 2853.

European Commercial Real Estate Lending Principles
The European Commercial Real Estate Lending Principles guide offers an initial layout of key principles to be considered when advancing secured investment loans. The recommendations assume a professional degree of existing knowledge and experience of property lending. The document is intended for senior balance sheet, corporate, capital markets focused and subordinated debt lenders, as well as alternative lenders such as insurance and fund based capital providers. In addition the guide coincides with the Loan Market Association’s highly anticipated real estate finance document due to be released in April 2012.
European Commercial Real Estate Lending Tax Guide
The European Commercial Real Estate Lending Tax Guide sets out, in general terms, common tax issues that prospective lenders should consider in their decision-making for lending to real estate investment structures. This document takes a high level approach to the situations that may arise, and should be considered when examining a debtor’s tax position. The document is intended for lenders, loan servicers, investors, restructuring advisors and participants in the European commercial real estate finance market.
